The K/1st/2nd graders began today, September 2, 2009. It was great to see them after the long summer. My goodness! They have grown! We learned and completed so many activities today. After reading I Like Myself by K. Beaumont the students completed drawings of themselves with the paper folded. First, they drew half of their face then flipped it over and without looking at the side they already drew they had to complete the picture. The pictures were adorable but the sides of their faces did not match! Then they worked on the scientific process, sorting skills. They discussed property after looking up the definition in the dictionary then in pairs decided on properties of items in their bag. They came up with many different properties for their items. We worked on teamwork with a Shoe Swap activity and Balloon Toss. It was a great day to be gifted!
