Do you remember where we saw this window? 


We ate lunch at the old City Cemetery. Some of the older graves were at the Cathedral but then moved to the Old City Cemetery after the land was donated. The students discovered many interesting facts about the history of Jacksonville by exploring the cemetery and completing a scavenger hunt.




The fifth grade visited the St. Johns Cathedral. We learned the difference between a gargoyle and a grotesque. We also learned about a whimsy. The cathedral was first built in 1842 but burned down in 1862 during the Civil War. A new cathedr
al was built in 1873 but it also burned down during the great fire of 1901. It was rebuilt in 1906 and remains today. It was built in Gothic revival architectural style.

I liked the trip also. I learned a great deal. I thought it was neat about the whimsies.
